If you love cars, and could talk to strangers about them all day long, this role might be for you.
I’m a car enthusiast who has found a way to make a great living as a State Farm agent. Along the way, I’ve learned something simple: car people like talking to other car people—and relationships matter.
I’m looking for a Classic Car Specialist to help build and lead our presence at car shows, events, and collector gatherings within a 2.5-hour radius of Birmingham.
This is not a desk job.
This is not customer service.
But it’s also not 100% travel.
WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO
Your time will be split between:
Office-based follow-up and quoting
Car shows, events, and meetups (including multi-day shows when applicable)
Core responsibilities:
Representing our agency at major car events
Talking with collectors, builders, and enthusiasts
Collecting complete quote sheets
Following up from the office
Building relationships with car clubs and event organizers
Acting as our Event Director for the auto niche
You’ll be supported with:
Office workspace in Birmingham
State Farm swag and giveaways
iPad and systems
Travel, hotels, food covered for events
Budget to build long-term relationships
If licensed, you’ll quote and write business directly.
If not yet licensed, we’ll help you get there if you prove you’re the right person.
Long-term, this role grows into building and leading your own niche team (auto now, boats later).
WHO THIS IS FOR
This role is for someone who:
Loves cars and car culture
Is naturally outgoing and confident
Enjoys meeting new people
Is comfortable in both social settings and an office environment
Wants a career with upside and ownership
This is not for someone who:
Avoids sales conversations
Needs constant supervision
Wants a quiet, predictable routine
Isn’t genuinely interested in cars
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
People who thrive in this role typically:
Earn around $50k in year one
Earn around $70k in year two
Are preparing to run their own agency by year three
This is a role with a path—not a ceiling.
HOW WE HIRE
Our process includes:
A short written introduction
A sales aptitude assessment
A cognitive assessment (to ensure licensing won’t be a barrier)
A conversation to confirm fit
HOW TO APPLY
Send a short introduction including:
Who you are
Why cars matter to you
Any sales or people-facing experience
If you can’t walk past a well-done classic without stopping to look, this role deserves a closer look.
