We currently have a limited number of male and female emu chicks available, ranging from 4–12 weeks of age. These chicks have been raised with extensive human interaction and are well-acclimated to a variety of farm animals.
The 2026 emu hatching season has concluded at Gypsy Shoals Farm, and these are among the last chicks available from this year's hatch. We are located on Weiss Lake in Centre, Alabama (35960).

Quality Breeding Program
Our breeding pairs come from diverse bloodlines to promote strong genetics, healthy offspring, and excellent hatch rates.
At Gypsy Shoals Farm, our emus enjoy a 6-acre free-range pasture alongside alpacas, goats, and a donkey. We do not currently have blonde emus; all available chicks are standard-color emus.
Because we live on the farm, maintaining a clean, healthy environment is a top priority. We are tested by the State of Alabama every six months to maintain our NPIP certification. Our birds receive proper nutrition, attentive care, and regular health monitoring, giving buyers confidence in the quality of our program.
Things to Know About Emus
📌 Emus can live approximately 30 years in captivity. Please consider this long-term commitment before adding one to your family.
📌 Secure fencing is important. We recommend fencing at least 5 feet tall. At Gypsy Shoals Farm, we use 4-foot fencing with two additional wires above it to safely contain our emu mob.
📌 Emus enjoy running and benefit from having space to exercise. If space is limited, a longer, narrower enclosure is generally preferable to a square one.
📌 Emus are relatively quiet birds and do not crow like roosters, making them suitable for many rural and residential settings.
📌 Their inquisitive and personable nature provides endless entertainment. Consistent interaction and socialization help ensure they grow into friendly, manageable adult birds.
