Beetle Juice is a 5-year-old Few Spot Leopard Appaloosa gelding that I have owned since he was 3 years old. He’s one of those horses that is truly hard to part with.
About 6 months ago, Beetle was sent to Sky Ray for 30 days of professional training. During his time there, he received extensive groundwork and riding experience. Sky often commented that he had an “old soul” about him and even trusted him enough to use him in lesson programs with students.
From day one, Beetle has been incredibly intelligent and willing. I had him halter broke in a single day and lunging within two days. He has always been eager to learn and wants to please. The original plan was for him to become my next sorting and ranch horse.
Personality-wise, Beetle is as sweet as they come. He has a big goofy personality, loves attention, and is the kind of horse that quickly becomes your buddy.
Unfortunately, Beetle has recently developed minor uveitis in his right eye. At this time, the eye is not cloudy and does not appear to affect him, but it is something that potential buyers should be aware of.
He stands around 14.1 hands tall and is built like a brick house. Many of the photos shown are from when he was 3 years old before he really matured and filled out—he is much bigger and heavier-built now.
Beetle has been trail ridden several times and hauled off-property for training, but due to limited riding time, he is still considered green. He has roughly 3 months of riding under his belt and has been sitting for the past 3 months. It would not take much to get him back into a consistent program.
A perfect home is an absolute must. He is priced far below what he is worth because finding the right fit is more important to me than making a profit. If the right home doesn’t come along, he is more than welcome to stay here.
If you’re looking for a kind, willing young Appaloosa with a great mind, a solid foundation, and all the potential in the world, Beetle Juice may be your guy.
