These albums are the product of a nationwide poll in the United Kingdom when listeners to BBC Radio 2 voted for their favorite and best known compositions.
1 The first album includes pieces by Sibelius’ “Finlandia”, Strauss’ “Nuns’ Chorus”, Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Beethoven’s “Pastoral”, Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata - Moonlight”, Verdi’s “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves” Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1", Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and Elgar’s “Enigma Variations - Nimrod”.
2. The second album includes compositions by Mozart “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”, Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffman”, Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D”, Handel’s “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba”, Mendelssohn’s “O Rest in the Lord”, Monk’s “Abide with Me” and Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”.
The sleeves are in excellent condition and the discs themselves have only minimal imperfections and sound well. Recently, before I sold my stereo equipment, I transcribed the entire LP collection onto compact discs and both albums were clear and distinct.
