Vintage silver plated epergne featuring camels at rest with trumpet-shape glass vases. The piece measures approx. 10” high and 51/2” wide. Glass is etched with a delicate fern pattern. One vase has minor damage at its base which is of course concealed when the vase is in place and there is some pitting on the base. The camel figures are undamaged and the surfaces are crisp.
Within a diamond shape, the base is stamped I, 19, 8 Rd P, D. The maker’s mark is believed to be J B& Co. 713 but it is difficult to read. Based on the styling alone, the piece is likely late Victorian/Edwardian. It has been in our family for approximately 60 years. It was a gift to my mother and passed to me. It sources from the United Kingdom.
