2004 Bennington RL251 – Excellent Condition
This 2004 Bennington RL251 is in great shape. It’s a rare model—Bennington only produced these fiberglass deck boats for a couple of years before discontinuing them due to high production costs, shifting their focus to pontoon boats instead.
The RL251 was considered a premium deck boat, priced well above many competitors at the time. It was designed with passenger comfort in mind, offering seating for up to 11 people, including chaise lounges and wrap-around seating.
The engine hours are unknown (no gauge installed), but its condition clearly shows minimal use. This year, I had it fully tuned up with a new distributor, spark plugs, wires, fuel pump and a starter. It’s powered by a reliable Mercruiser 350 and runs great, with Captain’s Call exhaust and many additional features.
I’m selling because I recently bought a Malibu for my kids, who prefer surfing and wakeboarding. While the Bennington is far more comfortable, I don’t have space for two boats.
Currently, it’s stored on my covered lift at Smith Lake, and you’re welcome to come take it for a test drive. It has a brand-new bimini top, and the interior is in excellent condition with no tears. The only cosmetic issues are some sun fading on the back (easily fixed with minor wet sanding) and a small 1-inch crack in the rear swim platform. The boat also comes with:
• A well-used snap-on cover with about a 12-inch tear at the rear (still usable, could be patched)
• A full cover in good condition
• A matching trailer (brakes are non-functional, but I’ve towed it from Nashville to Birmingham without issue). I have not tried to diagnose the brake issue, as I keep it on a covered lift at Smith Lake.
It’s ideal for families and friends who enjoy watersports and cruising. The stereo system includes 2 amps, but recently lost sound—likely due to the non-marine amps failing—so I’ve factored that into the price.
Price: $22,000 – a great value for a well-built, comfortable deck boat.
