For sale is a vintage Oak Acorn penny gumball machine on a stand that has been completely refurbished both inside and out.
This machine features a 1 cent coin mechanism with near perfect chrome that has been disassembled, cleaned, polished, lubricated and rebuilt and is ready for decades of service. Inside you will find an adjustable candy wheel that lets you control how much candy or gum can be dispensed with each turn of the handle. Currently the aperture on the candy wheel is set wide open so you will get the maximum amount of merchandise with each penny. The glass globe is in very good condition, with some bubbles and minor scratches, and has the sought after heavily embossed Oak Acorn logo on the back. There are a few nicks on the edge of the globe, but no cracks. This can only be seen when the machine is completely taken apart and in no way takes away from the look, function, and integrity of the globe and machine. There is a waterslide 1 cent Acorn gumball machine decal on the inside of the globe. The lid, hopper, and base are all polished aluminum, while the body is painted red β together making it brightly pop with contrasting colors!
This machine can dispense gumballs as well as unwrapped candies like various M&Ms, Boston Baked Beans, Jordan Almonds, etc. While it can dispense peanuts, cashews, and almonds, it is highly discouraged as the oils and salts from nuts that are not covered in a candy shell will deteriorate the insides of the machine permanently. Gumballs and small unwrapped candies are recommended.
The machine is mounted on a black gumball machine stand and sits at a height of 39 inches. This is a REAL gumball machine that was made in Culver City, California β not a Chinese import sold at Wal-Mart or Amazon. The Acorn model was introduced by Oak in 1949 and was made with very few modifications until the early 80s. It is the most copied gumball machine design in history. With a penny coin mechanism, these days this is not something you buy to make money off of in the office or at a store β but it is perfect for those wanting a bit if nostalgia from a simpler time to keep in the at the home, game room, man cave, shop, or your office! The kids and grandkids will love itβ¦ and so will you!
Price is $325, firm, no trades, for the machine and stand. I can meet off of I-65 between the Cullman to the Warrior, AL exits.
